The Government: New joint 24/7 situation centre in light of hybrid war
In order to strengthen operational readiness across society, the Government is establishing a 24/7 situation centre in conjunction with the National Operational Staff (NOST). And to strengthen the national defence against cyber attacks, a cyber protection network and a cyber operations centre will be established.
Today, Denmark is facing the most serious and complex threat and risk picture since the Second World War. Russia is currently waging a hybrid war against NATO and the West, and the hybrid threat from Russia against NATO will increase in the coming years.
This applies not least to the cyber threat to Denmark, where Danish authorities, companies and citizens are exposed to cyber attacks from both state and non-state actors on a daily basis.
Therefore, the Government is making a long-term investment in the framework for the operational efforts across the authorities.
The hybrid threat will increase in the coming years. Therefore, the Government will establish a 24/7 situation centre that can strengthen operational cooperation and the authorities' cross-cutting detection, coordination and response capabilities. This means that the authorities can prevent and react more effectively for the benefit of authorities, companies, organisations and our society as a whole," says Torsten Schack Pedersen, Minister for Societal Security and Emergency Preparedness.
Cyber attacks are a central part of the threat landscape
The cyber threat is serious. In addition to a new 24-hour manned situation centre, the Government is therefore establishing a cyber monitoring network and a cyber operations centre.
We must gather incident monitoring, coordination, response and crisis management in one place. This will strengthen the national protection against cyber attacks and strengthen cyber security around critical infrastructure in particular," says Torsten Schack Pedersen, Minister for Civil Protection and Emergency Preparedness
The strengthened efforts cover a total prioritisation of around DKK 1 billion over 4 years.
