More solar cell systems do not necessarily mean more fires

13/10/2025

Since 2020, Denmark's solar cell capacity has increased from around 1.1 GW to approx. 4.6 GW as of H1 2025. The significant development in the total installed capacity in GW over the period is related to the installation and grid connection of medium-sized and large plants in particular, which has grown from 3,828 to 14,671 (283.3%) for medium-sized plants and from 37 to 123 (232.4%) for large plants. In the same period, the number of small plants increased by 46.7% from 99,972 to 146,700.

The Ministry of Climate, Energy and Utilities' projection from 2025 indicates that the total solar cell capacity can reach around 15 GW in 2030.The expansion of solar cell capacity is also supported by the EU's revised Building Directive from 2024, which specifies a number of requirements for the installation of solar cell systems on public buildings, commercial buildings and private residential buildings up to 2030.
