National Cyber Security Month – a joint effort for a more secure digital Denmark

01/10/2025

In October, the Danish Civil Protection Agency, together with a large number of parties, will increase its focus on cyber security.

The cyber threat to Denmark is serious, and authorities, companies and private individuals experience attempted cyber attacks every single day. A single click on a fake email or a weak password can have major consequences – not only for the individual, but for the entire society.

Therefore, in October this year, we are again focusing on cyber security with National Cyber Security Month. It is a nationwide campaign where public and private actors join forces to raise awareness of digital risks – and to strengthen the common resilience against cyber attacks. Because cyber security is not just a technical issue – it is a cornerstone of a well-functioning and secure digitalised society.

Through information, exercises and collaboration, Cyber Security Month will help make it easier for authorities, companies and citizens to understand the threats – and act wisely and responsibly in a digital everyday life.

During the month, there are exciting events on cyber and information security for both authorities, companies and citizens.

Digital security campaign: Who are you really talking to?

This is the central question in a new citizen-oriented campaign on digital fraud from the Danish Agency for Civil Protection. The campaign is launched as part of National Cyber Security Month 2025.

Digital fraud is a growing problem, and the campaign aims to make citizens aware that fraud today is more organized and sophisticated than ever.

Fraudsters, for example, increasingly pretend to be from the police, banks or public authorities, and will often try to persuade the victim to transfer money to a so-called "security account". Therefore, one of the main messages of the campaign is that it is okay to take it easy, disconnect the call and double-check who you are talking to – for example, by calling the main number.

Webinars on digital security and IT fraud

The Danish Civil Protection Authority holds webinars on digital security and IT fraud, among other things. The webinar is for employees who work in the public sector or work directly with citizens in e.g. the banking sector or insurance companies.
