The NOST is in operational alert due to the drone activity in recent days

25/09/2025

As a result of drone activity in several places in Denmark in recent days, the national operational staff - colloquially called the NOST - is on operational readiness.

On Monday evening, there was suspicious drone activity at Copenhagen Airport, and on that basis, the National Operational Staff (NOST) was activated in information preparedness. In continuation of this, several authorities gathered on Tuesday and Wednesday for a physical meeting in the NOST to exchange knowledge and coordinate across the authorities.

On Wednesday evening, there was again suspicious drone activity in several places in Denmark, and therefore the NOST has now gone up to operational readiness. It is the authorities' continued assessment that the drone flights are primarily intended to create insecurity and disrupt our infrastructure.

On Thursday morning and again early Thursday afternoon, the NOST has gathered for physical meetings, just as several NOST meetings are planned for the rest of Thursday. In the near future, the NOST will also meet regularly to ensure cross-disciplinary cooperation and ongoing coordination between the authorities.

As a result of the events of recent days, several authorities have increased both manpower and surveillance at critical infrastructure. For safety reasons, the NOST cannot state where this is the case.

What to do if you observe suspicious drone activity

Many citizens are currently contacting the authorities with observations about drone activity. If you as a citizen observe illegal or suspicious drone activity, you can help the authorities by:

Document the incident thoroughly, for example by photographing and filming the activity with your mobile phone. Do not zoom in so that you can place the drone in the landscape or area. Film preferably long sequences.

Call 1-1-4, where you will be asked about, among other things:

Where and when did you observe the drone?
What does the drone look like?- How big is the drone?- Does the drone have wings or rotors?- Is there light on the drone? What colors?- Are there other characteristics
Are you familiar with whether there are airports or other critical infrastructure nearby?
How did the drone fly?
Can you see and describe the drone pilot?
